Acceptance of these terms

Africa API is operated by Assembly Labs LLC (“Africa API”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The service

Africa API provides programmatic access to reference and current data covering African countries — including economic indicators, exchange rates and markets, trade, elections, policies, and country signals — through a REST API, an MCP server, and a web dashboard. We may add, change, or remove endpoints, data, and features over time.

Accounts and API keys

  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and API keys.
  • Keep your API keys confidential and treat them like passwords. You can rotate or revoke keys at any time in the dashboard.
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account or keys.
  • You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Exceed, evade, or interfere with plan quotas, rate limits, or other technical restrictions, including by creating multiple accounts to do so.
  • Build a product whose primary purpose is to redistribute the raw API data as a substitute for the Service.
  • Reverse engineer, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use the Service to violate any law, infringe others’ rights, or transmit malicious code.
  • Misrepresent the source, accuracy, or currency of the data, or imply endorsement by Africa API or the underlying data sources.

Plans, billing, and cancellation

  • Free plan. The Free plan is offered at no cost and may have lower quotas and rate limits. We may change or discontinue it with reasonable notice.
  • Paid plans. Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor, Stripe. By upgrading you authorize us to charge your payment method for the applicable fees until you cancel.
  • Changes and cancellation. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the dashboard. Cancellation returns you to the Free plan at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods or unused requests.
  • Taxes and price changes. Fees are exclusive of taxes, which are your responsibility. We may change plan pricing and will give notice before changes affect your next billing period.

Data, sources, and attribution

The data served by the API is aggregated from third-party sources, including international organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations, and the IMF, each of which makes its data available under its own terms. Each observation includes a source field identifying its origin.

You may use API responses in commercial and non-commercial applications, subject to these Terms. For public-facing republication of the underlying data you must attribute the original sources, and you are responsible for ensuring your use complies with the terms of the relevant upstream sources.

No guarantee of accuracy. The data is provided for informational purposes and may contain errors, omissions, or delays. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for financial, legal, compliance, or other consequential decisions.

Intellectual property

The Service — including the website, API design, documentation, software, and the Africa API name and logo — is owned by Africa API and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service as permitted. We welcome feedback and may use it without obligation to you.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but it is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not offer an uptime guarantee or service-level agreement unless agreed in a separate written contract. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service, and may impose or change limits, at any time.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL DATA ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT THE DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AFRICA API AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD 100.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Africa API from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, fail to pay fees, or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. On termination your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive — including data attribution, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute that is not subject to other agreed dispute-resolution terms.
